Lena "Edith" Weddle Hawks

Mrs. Lena “Edith” Weddle Hawks, 92, of Mebane, passed away on Friday August 5, 2016 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Rockingham County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Susan Allen Weddle. Edith had retired from Burlington Industries with numerous years of service and she was a proud member of Central Baptist Church in Mebane. She loved to listen to blue grass music, sewing, cooking for her family and friends and her crafting which was always of the best quality. She was an avid NASCAR fan especially when it came to the driver Kevin Harvick. She was known for always being on the go and always putting others before herself whatever the cause may be. Survivors include her children, Andra Lea Faucette, of Mebane, Eldridge Hawks and wife Virgie, of Mebane, Emmett Hawks and wife Donna, of Cedar Grove, Susan Griffin and husband Steve, of Mebane, Maryann Adams, of MS, and Marie Farley and husband Tracy, of OK; 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Hawks; brother, Walter “Allen” Weddle; sister, Lila Weddle; and sons in law, Wayne Faucette and Jerry Adams. A Church Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday August 9, 2016 at the Central Baptist Church in Mebane with the Pastor Mike Faust Officiating with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Monday August 8, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the residence of Suzy Griffin at 6104 Lebanon Rd. Mebane.
