Leona Burnette Williams, 84, of Gibsonville, NC, passed away on Monday September 11, 2017 at Alamance Healthcare Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Katie Daye Burnette. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friends to all. She loved to cook and feed her family and friends which always made her happy. Being raised on a farm, she enjoyed gardening whether she was gathering vegetables or planting her flowers, she loved to be outside. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Cates and husband Willie and Charlotte Williams, both of Burlington; sons, Wayne Nichols and wife Dorothy, of Greensboro, Steve Nichols and wife Jennifer, of Greensboro and Calvin Williams, of Burlington; 9 grandchildren and many loving great grandchildren; sister, Faye Richmond and husband Earl, of Duluth, GA and a brother, Jimmy Burnette and wife Shirley, of Burlington; and her loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Nichols and Sherman Williams and her brothers, Thomas and James “JB” Burnette. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 16, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with her nephew, Minister Mark Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Northlawn Cemetery in Burlington. There will be no public visitation. The family will be at the residence of her daughter, Deborah Cates at 1104 Rauhut St. Burlington.
