Mr. Levi Carlton “Corky” Matkins, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday March 11, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. A native of Alamance County, NC, Levi was born on November 17, 1959 and he was the son of Thomas Carlton Matkins, who survives and the late Blenda Pegram Matkins. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to many. He was retired from Walter Kiddie with 25 years of service. His joy was his two granddaughters that were his “Best friends” with Pinky promises. He was an avid North Carolina State fan and loved playing Putt-Putt. Survivors include his wife Denise Creech Matkins, of the home; sons, Carlton Matkins and wife Amy and Steven Matkins and Fiancé Colin; brother, James Matkins and wife Suzanne; sister in law, Gail Matkins, and his loving Aunt Marie, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a brother, Howard Matkins. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 Pm on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor David Jackson and Terry Creech officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 PM prior to the service on Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the family. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the entire staff at Moses Cone Hospital. They were a blessing during our time of need. In addition, we thank those who have supported us by your calls, your visits and other acts of kindness during this time.
