Lloyd Charles “L.C.” Pierce Jr., 79, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his residence.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Pierce Thornton and husband, Ryan; Lee Pierce and wife, Charity; four grandchildren, Meredith and Preston Thornton; Bret and Gable Pierce; a brother, Ronnie Pierce and wife, Phyllis; a niece, Sandra and husband, Robbie Moore; sister-in-law, Nearldean Pierce; and nephews, Kenny and Kerry Pierce
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Patsy White Pierce; a brother, Kenneth Lee Pierce; and parents, Lloyd Charles Pierce Sr. and Mary Lea Hester Pierce.
A graduate of Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane, he retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation after 30 years of service.
Western movies, especially those with John Wayne, were among his favorites. He also enjoyed watching wrestling on TV, a pastime shared with his son and grandsons.
He was happiest sitting on a balcony, looking out at the ocean with Patsy. In recent years, he was active in events at the American Legion Hut in Haw River, where he discovered a second family.
The family would like to thank his caregiver, Angela Rhoten, and friends, Ernest and Linda Sumner, for their love and compassion.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, at Long’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery, 2364 State Hwy. 49, Burlington, N.C. 27217 with the Pastor Caleb Hensley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Legion Post 427, P.O. Box 1002, Haw River, N.C. 27258.
