Lucy Ella Hall

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Lucy Ella Phillips Hall, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orlando, Fla.Lucy was born in Alamance County. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1936. She retired from Burlington Industries and she was a lifelong member of Haw River Christian Church (The Lamb's Chapel). Lucy lived in Florida for 32 years, where she devoted her time helping others, delivering Meals On Wheels and managing Good Samaritan thrift store. She loved swimming and fishing and did both at every opportunity.She is survived by her children, Debbie McPherson of Mebane, Lisa D. Overman (David) of Ramseur, N.C., Kenneth R. Hall (Martha) of Mebane, N.C., Stephen C. Hall (Janet) of Leland, N.C.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister; Beulah Anderson of Nashville, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Sterling Hall; parents, Charlie Clifton and Rosa Ella Maness Phillips; sisters, Hattie Mae Hodgin, Ethel Hodgin and Etrola Adams; and brothers, Charlie "Teem" Phillips and Otis "Odge" Phillips.The funeral service will be held Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Haw River Christian Church (The Lamb's Chapel), Haw River, N.C., in the old sanctuary. Officiating will be the Rev. Dan Ficklin. Burial will follow in Long's Chapel Christian Church cemetery.The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 3 until 5 Saturday afternoon. At other times they will be at the residence of Debbie McPherson, 771 S. 8th Street, Mebane, N.C.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Hubbard House, which provides housing and meals to families of trauma patients, 29 W.
