Lula Angeline Shue Rogers

Mrs. Lula Angeline Shue Rogers, 85, of Eli Whitney, NC, passed away on Friday December 2, 2016 at her residence. A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Harlan and Lillie Herring Shoe. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother or “Gigi”, sister and friend to many. She was a proud member of Concord United Methodist Church where she enjoyed fellowship with the Ladies Lunch Bunch group at the Church. She graduated from Sylvan High School where she played on the 1949-50 women’s championship basketball team. She was known as an anonymous giver, never wanting to receive credit or praise for helping others as she always put others above herself. She enjoyed her trips to Beaufort, NC and she especially loved Christmas time as she loved to hand out presents to her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Steve Rogers and wife Kay, of Chapel Hill, Karen Cheek and husband Jim, of Snow Camp, and Robin Dean and husband Gerry, of Graham; grandchildren, Shannon Williams (Bo Hodges), Michael Cheek (Barbara), Nicholas Rogers (Emily), Emily Harrell (Jonathan), Zachary Dean and Jessica Dean; great grandchildren, Rachel, Alex, Gracie, Gretchen, Mackenzie, Brooks, Dawson and Miles; and her sister, Shirley Petty and husband JC, of Graham. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, B. Frank Rogers, brothers, Ross, Jim, and Winfred Shoe and sisters, Mary Belle Davis and Virginia George. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday December 8, 2016 at the Concord United Methodist Church with the Pastor Molly White and Pastor David King officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Concord UMC (Pastor Discretionary Fund) at 4462 E Greensboro Chapel Hill Rd, Graham, NC 27253.
