MEBANE - M. Eugene Bradshaw, 76, took his last journey on Jan. 6, 2015, into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.Eugene was born to Harvey and Rachel Bradshaw of Boone County, Racine, W.Va. In 1960, he graduated from West Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. In August 1962, he married his sweetheart, Irene Higginbotham, of Sand Ridge, W.Va., and in November 2012, they celebrated their 50th anniversary surrounded by family and friends.Eugene achieved a high status as a Boy Scout. He was known for telling a good joke. Eugene will always be remembered as a loving and faithful husband and father. He was a committed Christian and served God wholeheartedly wherever he was a church member. His most favorite opportunity was to teach Sunday school.Eugene is survived by his loving caregiver and wife of 52 years, Irene; children, Rebecca (Mike) Coon, Stephen (Norma) Bradshaw, Sarah (Terry) Rushing and Daniel (Margaret) Bradshaw; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rachel, Phillip, Nedko, Tyler (Chloe), Tori, MacKenzie, Michael, Karis, Bradley, Ryan and Phillip; great-grandsons, Chance and Milo; and siblings, Shirley, Donna, Joseph and Kathy.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Rachel Bradshaw.Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, N.C. and at other times at the residence.The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Eastside Baptist Church in Mebane, N.C., with the Rev. Chuck Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mebane Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 33 Supper Club Road, Mebane, NC 27302.
