Mebane Magdalene Parker Turner, 82, of Mebane, formerly of Durham died Monday, February 22 at Durham Regional Hospital. She was a native of Durham County, born October 30, 1933 to George Thomas and Cora Dezern Parker. She was retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company after 36 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Thomas (Tom) Turner; son, Jerry Thomas Turner; brothers, Hubert L. Parker and Paul Winston Parker; sisters, Hazel Bennett, Mollie Atkins, Eula Caldwell, Virginia Davis and Lessie Rudd. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Turner Talton and husband Jay; her dog Shooter whom she loved dearly; daughter in law, Bonnie Turner; Step grandchildren, Lisa Selfe and David Hunt; step great grandchildren, Kelli Selfe and Shane Hunt; brother, Fred Parker. She enjoyed exercising and socializing at Southwind in Durham where she made many friends. Growing up she was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and was actively attending Wayside Independent Baptist Church in Hillsborough. The family would like to thank the staff of Durham Regional, 5200 Unit and the CCU unit for all the quality caregiving that we received. A service to celebrate her life will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Wayside Baptist Church in Hillsborough by Pastor Brad Williams. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
