Margaret Anette Haith
November 22, 1955 – May 12, 2025
Margaret Anette Haith, a radiant storyteller whose tales brought joy and inspiration, a devoted mother and grandmother, and steadfast pillar of her community, passed away surrounded by love and family. Born on November 22, 1955, in the front bedroom of her parents' home in Pleasant Grove, North Carolina, Anette's life was a beautiful blend of service, strength, laughter, and deep connection to family and community. Anette graduated from Eastern Alamance High School in 1974, where she was known for her bright spirit and leadership. Anette pursued higher education with determination, earning an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Mt. Olive College in 1976. She later received certifications in Medical Billing and Transcription from The Allen School (NY) and Career Steps (UT), continuing to hone her talents throughout her life.
At the heart of everything Anette did was love, especially for her family. She was Crystal's proud mother and a devoted grandmother to her grandkids. She lived with them in Falls Church, Virginia, where she helped raise her grandchildren while Crystal worked for the Department of Defense. She was active in their lives, taking them to karate, baseball, and Irish dance (Feis)—and cheering them on every step of the way. Anette also helped care for her parents in their later years and often visited her aunts, uncles, and extended relatives, keeping the family spirit strong. She found joy in simple things—cutting the grass to find peace, baking cakes during the holidays (her red velvet, coconut, and chocolate cakes were family favorites), and watching NCIS and Law & Order: SVU. However, it was during Christmas, her favorite time of year that her love and joy truly shone filling the season with laughter, love, and her signature desserts.
Anette rekindled her relationship with her high school sweetheart, Karl Bass. The two were married in May 2023, completing a love story nearly 50 years in the making.
Her parents, Louis “Bill” Haith and Cornelia Anderson Haith, and her sister, Patricia Ann Haith Headen, preceded Anette in death. She is survived by her husband Karl Bass, her daughter Crystal (Jason), her beloved grandchildren Samantha, Catherine, and Brandon, her niece Kimberly Shore(Landrey), nephew Mark Headen, grandniece Grace, and a wide circle of cousins, relatives, and lifelong friends who were deeply touched by her generosity and warmth.
Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, and we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this difficult time. We will continue to tell stories about the remarkable woman she was, and we thank you for being a part of her life and ours.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, May 20 by Pastor David Morrow at Bethsada Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00-6:00 at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane. On line condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcclurefuneralservice.net.
