Maria Dawn Cates

Maria Dawn Cates, 42 of Haw River, N.C. got her heavenly wings on April 11th, 2023 and went home to her Lord and savior. Formerly of 607 Kivett St., Burlington, N.C. She was the daughter of the late William M. Cates, Jr and Kathy Cates Barker of the home. Maria had a degree in Forensic Science, Pharmacy Tech and Photography. She was as smart as she was sweet, kind, loving, caring and beautiful. She always had a smile on her face and loved her Lord as well as her family. Especially, her mama’ Kathy. You never seen one without the other, they have never been a day apart. Maria, (Sissy Baby as her mama’ called her) is survived by her brothers, Terry L. Cates and his fiancé Jean Nugal, Jospeh Cates and his wife Tiffany Hubbard Cates, William L. Cates his fiancé Marina Carroll. Her niece’s; Hannah G. Cates and Haylee B Guas. Her nephew’s; Jospeh Cates, Jr, Jayden Cates, Noah Cates, Eli Nugal and Bryson Duckworth. •Visitation for Maria will be at 5 to 7 on Sunday April 16th at McClures funeral home in Graham. Her funeral will follow on Monday April 17th at the funeral Chapel starting at 2. •Pastor Gene Cates, Jr, of Freedom Fellowship church will officiate. •Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery of Burlington. •The family will receive family and friends at the home; 181 N Wilkins Rd., Apt. 173, Haw River, N.C., 27258. •In memory of Maria at the request of the family if you could please wear Carolina Blue or Carolina Tar Heels attire the day of her funeral and burial would be appreciated.
