MEBANE, N.C. - Marie King Murdock, 88, of 6619 Hwy. 70 East, passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.Marie was the daughter of the late Claude Cecil King and the late Emma Barnett King and the wife of Mack Baxter McLendon Murdock of the home.Marie was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington, a present member of the First Baptist Church of Mebane, founding member of the Mebane Historical Society, and the Grande Matriarch of Camp John 3:16.In addition to her husband, Marie leaves behind son, Robert Landrum (Jane) of Morehead City, N.C.; stepson, Isaac Murdock of Raleigh, N.C.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Elizabeth Thompson of Hurricane, W. Va.; brother, Howard King of Denton, N.C.; and daughter-in-law, Kris Landrum of Greensboro, N.C.She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Will Landrum III; and brother, Vernon C. King.Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, N.C. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Mebane, N.C., with the Rev. Judy Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Mebane Memorial Gardens in Mebane.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mebane Historical Society, 209 W.
