Marie Hutchens Ray

Mrs. Marie Hutchens Ray, 91, of Mebane passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the hospice home. Marie was born in High Point, NC to William Brockley Hutchens and Ruby Newton Hutchens. Mrs. Ray was a graduate of the business college in High Point, going on to work at White Furniture Company, Ridge Associate’s Law Office, and the Alley/Rader Company. Mrs. Ray was active in her church, Mebane Presbyterian Church. There she served as an elder to the church and sang in the choir for many years. Marie was a very accomplished artist, her passion for art was realized through her love of playing the piano and organ and her beautiful canvas oil paintings. Mrs. Ray can be remembered as a devoted steward of God, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Marie is survived by her sons, Gary Simpson Ray and Alan Lane Ray of Mebane, granddaughters, Ann Marie Ray, Sarah Ray, and Lynn Mitchell, and great granddaughters, Charlotte and Kaylynn.

Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her husband A.V. Ray and her son Craig Ray.

The family will receive friends at the Mebane Presbyterian Church from 1:00 PM until 2: PM on Sunday, October 31, 2021. There will be a funeral service held following the visitation, beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will be held following the service at Oakwood Cemetery.
