Martha Wade Kinney Holland, affectionately known as Martha to her friends and family, passed away peacefully at her residence in Snow Camp, North Carolina, on June 8, 2025. Born on February 26, 1947, in Virginia, Martha lived a life characterized by dedication, compassion, and patriotism. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Wade Kinney. Martha's journey began as the beloved daughter of her parents in Virginia, where she spent her formative years before pursuing higher education. She earned her Bachelor's Degree, which laid the foundation for her distinguished career in nursing. For many years, Martha served her community with unwavering commitment as a Critical Care Unit Nurse, where her skilled hands and kind heart touched the lives of countless individuals and their families. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Martha was a proud veteran of the US Army. Her love for her country was deep and abiding, and she carried the values of service and honor throughout all aspects of her life. Her patriotism was matched by her love for her family, who remember her as a pillar of strength and love. Martha is survived by a family that adored her. She leaves behind her son, William Paul Tritt Jr.; her grandson, Gavin Wade Tritt, who brought her immeasurable joy; her devoted sister, Mary V. Kinney; and her brothers, William Niven Kinney and John Jackson Kinney. Martha also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews, each of whom benefited from her wisdom and generosity. Beyond her family and career, Martha had a passion for life's simpler pleasures. She was an avid tennis fan, often found cheering on her favorite players and enjoying the thrill of the game. Her interest in politics kept her engaged with the world around her, always eager to listen, learn, and contribute to the conversations that shape our society. Martha's life was one of purpose and impact. Her legacy is one of love, service, and commitment to the things she held dear. As we bid farewell to Martha Wade Kinney Holland, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she has left on the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her presence enriched our lives. Martha will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the memories shared by her friends, family, and all who were touched by her compassionate soul. There will be no services held locally.
