Mary Elder Brooks

Mrs. Mary Elder Brooks, 87, of Elon, NC, passed away on Saturday April 7, 2018 at Shannon Gray Rehab in Greensboro. A native of Moore County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Annie Garner Elder and the wife of the late Claude D. Brooks Jr. Her love and joy was her family especially when it came to grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to family get-togethers so everyone could catch up and talk about old times. She was a member of Gospel Baptist Church where she loved her church and church family. Whenever she got the chance, she enjoyed her trips to the NC Mountains. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Doug) Chisholm; sons, Robbie (Vonnie) Brooks, Danny (Debbie) Brooks, Brian (Melissa) Brooks and Claude D. Brooks III; her 6 loving grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Luna Wall and Edna Fields; brothers, Robert and Herbert Elder. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 10, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Ken Goins officiating. Burial will follow In Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the family.
