Mary Jo Milne

April 22, 1929 — August 26, 2021

Mary Jo Milne passed away peacefully at her home in Mebane NC on Thursday, August 26th, 2021. She is

proceeded in death by parents George and Rita Hiecke and her husband George F. Milne. Mary Jo was

born April 22, 1929 in Oklahoma City. She spent her youth in Oklahoma and moved to Woodridge NJ

prior to her freshman year in high school. While in high school she met and began dating her future

husband, George Milne. After high school she attended Cook College for Women (now part of Rutgers

University) and majored in Journalism. She and George married in 1951 and were together for almost

70 years before his passing in 2012. They are now together again. She was a partner to George in all his

endeavors and together they raised 3 children Susan Jo (Joe Hope) of Mebane, NC., Diana Jo of Mebane,

and Chris Milne (Caroline Milne) of Greenback, TN. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother to 3

children and dearly loved by all of her 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers

donations can be made in her name to the Cherokee Nation at cherokee.org
