Mary Pauline (Polly) Pritchett Duncan, 99, passed away on May 2, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Polly was preceded in death by her husband, John Alvin Duncan, her mother and father, Mamie and Jeff Pritchett, and her brothers Bernice and J.D. (Ethel) Pritchett. Polly is survived by her daughter, Sandra Christopher, son, John (Emily) Duncan, grandchildren Amy (Paul) Springer, Suzanne Greene, Jeff (Lori) Duncan, Carrie (Dave) Walton, Dan (Julie) Duncan and 11 great-grandchildren. Polly was very active her whole life. As a young woman, after growing up in the Cross Roads community, she attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro known at the time as Women’s College. She worked at SunTrust Bank, formally Central Carolina Bank, and Durham Bank and Trust, where she received the position as one of the first female corporate officers. When she retired she organized an art show for the bank for several years where she displayed her own canvases as well as those of other local artists. Along with some of her best friends, she helped organize and establish the Mebane Historical Museum. After retirement, as well as  painting, she pursued her other passions of quilting and gardening. Her lawn was always the envy of the neighborhood. During her later years, she used her artistic eye to create some beautiful had made quilts. One year she made all of her then 9 great-grandchildren a quilt for Christmas. She really enjoyed her Cedar Grove quilting group not only for the quilting but for the good friends she made there. Polly loved to travel. Myrtle Beach was her favorite beach and visited often. New York City was a favorite as well, where she would take in plays, museums and shopping with her Mebane traveling friends. Polly was a faithful Mebane Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities. There will be a private graveside service for the family on May 5. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McClure Funeral Home, Mebane. There will be a viewing for friends on May 4, 1-5, and May 5, 9-12. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mebane  Presbyterian Church or Mebane Historical Museum.
