Mary Jacqueline Spivey, known as Jackie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on September 4, 1950, to the late Mary and Jack Spivey, Jackie's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, her brilliant mind, and her boundless love for those around her. She was a beacon of light and warmth in the lives of all who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed. Jackie is survived by her devoted life partner, Teresa McGhee, Jackie's love extended to her cherished dogs, Piper and Charlie, who were her constant companions and brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind her sister, Julie Nelson and special cousins, Bonnie Mitchell and Evon Leach, who were a source of strength and camaraderie throughout her life. Also surviving are her many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of loving relatives, who will remember Jackie for her generous spirit and her ability to make each person feel uniquely valued. Jackie's zest for life was contagious, and she was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. Hyco Lake held a special place in her heart as her favorite retreat, where she spent many cherished moments in the company of loved ones. Her home at the lake was a haven, a place where laughter echoed, stories were shared, and memories were made, anyone and everyone was always welcome. A woman of intellect and grace, Jackie approached life with a gentle yet determined spirit. She was highly intelligent, navigating life's challenges with wisdom and poise. Her kindness was her hallmark; she treated everyone she met with respect and compassion. Jackie's legacy is one of love, friendship, and the pursuit of happiness, and she lived her life to the fullest, embracing every moment with open arms. The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 13, 2026 from 10am-11am at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane. The funeral service will follow at 11am on Tuesday in the McClure Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place in Efland United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses in Central Tower 11A at Duke Hospital, her niece Lesley Williamson and AuthoraCare Hospice of Burlington.
