Michael "Mike" John Chinery

Mr. Michael John “Mike” Chinery, 76, of Burlington, NC, passed away on Tuesday October 9, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Mike was born on August 28, 1942 in London, England to the late George William and Irene Florence Chinery. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Being born and raised in London, England, he was very proud of his heritage and his family in England. Mike retired from the Oil Industry having worked and traveled the world; he enjoyed his time in Norway the most. Mike was a member of Historic providence Christian Church as he loved his Church family and volunteering with vacation Bible School and other events around the Church. Mike was known as a history buff and he enjoyed architecture and design. He was an avid soccer fan with his favorite team being Chelsea FC and he loved Duke Basketball. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Sybil Rich Chinery, of the home; sons, Stuart Pedersen and partner Cathy, Scott Squire and wife Alison, Matthew Squire and partner Jessica, of England, and Adam Chinery and wife Rachel, of Greenville, SC.; 9 loving grandchildren and his sister, Gloria Chinery, of Norfolk, England. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday October 12, 2018 at Historic Providence Christian Church with the Pastor Darryl Peebles officiating. Burial will follow in Historic Providence Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time at the Church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Providence Memorial Association, at PO Box 405 Graham, NC 27253 or to the Salvation Army at 812 N Anthony St, Burlington, NC 27217.
