Mildred Howard Sykes

Mildred Howard Sykes, 87, of Haw River died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of Orange County, retired from Cannon Mills and a member of the Graham First Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Cassie Dean Howard; brothers, Jerry Howard and Harold Howard. She is survived by her children, David & Kathy Sykes of Level Cross, Jay & Donna Sykes of Haw River, Carolyn Vaughn of Burlington; sisters, Brenda Taylor of Efland, Betty Glasgow Horner & James of Cedar Grove, Virgie Jordan of Siler City; brothers, Jesse & Gladys Howard of Graham, Kenneth & Pat Howard of Efland, J.B. Howard of Hillsborough & Lonnie Howard of Ocean Isle; 7 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate her life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Graham First Wesleyan Church by Pastors Wayne Howard & Wayne Byrd. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane 6-8 Tuesday night, other times at the residence.
