Mrs. Minnie Cheek Stokes, 92, of Graham, NC passed away on Thursday June 22, 2017 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center In Burlington. A native of Yadkin County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Franklin and Mary Sturdivant Cheek. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. The joy and love of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist. She was retired from Collins and Aikman with numerous years of service and after retirement she worked with Andrews Readiness School. She was an avid North Carolina Tar Heel fan and was so happy with the recent National Championship win. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Stokes Thompson and husband David, of Burlington; sons, Don Stokes, of Graham and Wayne Stokes and wife Cheryl, of Ruskin, FL; grandchildren, Vickie A. Hill, of Winston Salem, Scotti Thompson and wife Ashley, of Burlington and Chris Stokes and wife Brittany, of Graham; great grandchildren, Austin, Tanner and Morgan Hill, Grant Thompson, and Dillen and Becklea Stokes; with many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cranford Odell Stokes, daughter, Janie Alexander; sisters, Anzie Newman, Mozelle Collins and Florida Dowell; brothers, Smith and Spurgeon Cheek. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday June 24, 2017 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Pastor Norman Fargis and Jimmy Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday and other times at the residence of the family.
