Myrtle Gray Tapp

December 4, 1937 — October 26, 2014

Mrs. Myrtle Gray Tapp, 76, of Millikan Rd., Chapel Hill, passed away on Sunday October 26, 2014 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late John and Thelma Morris Tapp. She was a member of Clover Garden United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill where she enjoyed and loved her Church family. She worked with Kyser-Roth for numerous years and she retired from the Masonic Eastern Star Home in Greensboro. Mrs. Tapp was known for her cooking and baking as everyone always enjoyed her pies and cakes. She always had a smile on her face and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Survivors include her sons, Ronald Couch, of Greensboro, and Jay Couch, of McLeansville; daughter, Sharon Bridges, of Ramseur; sister, Mary Sue Rogers and husband Ralph, of Graham; brother, Tommy Tapp and wife Brenda, of Chapel Hill; and grandson, Tyler Bridges, of Siler City. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Clover Garden United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill with the Rev. Pat Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service on Tuesday in the Church fellowship Hall. Mrs. Tapp will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clover Garden UMC Cemetery Fund at 2757 Orange Chapel-Clover Garden Church Rd.
