Nancy King Ghantt, age 85, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away on June 5, 2026, at Homeplace of Burlington. She was born on December 4, 1940, in Caswell County, North Carolina, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, steadfast faith, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her late husband, John A. Ghantt who passed away in 2003 and Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur Wilson King and Frances Blalock King and was the oldest grandchild of the late Will and Minnie King. She grew up in a Primitive Baptist home, where the values of faith, family, and humility helped shape the woman she became. Those early roots remained an important part of her life throughout the years, and she carried herself with grace, strength, and a deep sense of love for those around her. She was a proud graduate of Walter Williams High School, Class of 1959. After completing her education, Nancy devoted many years of faithful service to Carolina Box, where she retired after more than 30 years of employment. Her strong work ethic and dependable nature earned the respect of her coworkers and reflected the same dedication she showed in every part of her life. Above all else, Nancy was the matriarch of her family. Her family was her life, and she especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found great joy in being present for them, loving them deeply, and celebrating each milestone and memory. Her home and her heart were always open to those she loved, and her presence brought comfort, guidance, and stability to generations of her family. She is survived by her loving children, Elaine Long Isley and her husband Johnny, and Ronald Lee “Leroy” Long Jr. and his wife Mary. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Danielle Doucette and her husband Geoff, Dylan Reavis and his wife Emily. Her memory will be treasured by her great-grandchildren, Tinsleigh, Presleigh, Blakeleigh, Olivia and one on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Loy, and her brother, Gary King. Nancy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found happiness in the things that brought her peace and companionship. She loved the beach and treasured the friendships she shared through bluegrass music, and she will be dearly missed by those dear friends who shared in that joy with her. Her kind heart, steady presence, and loving nature made her a blessing to her family and to all who were fortunate enough to know her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by many loved ones who welcomed her home. Though her earthly journey has ended, the legacy she leaves behind will continue through the family she loved so deeply and through the many lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and devotion. Nancy King Ghantt will be remembered with love, gratitude, and lasting affection.
