Nancy Stevens Harrison

Nancy Stevens Harrison, 84, of Mebane died Friday, April 21 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. A native of Phoenix, AZ, she was a graduate of Wellesley College and Dartmouth Nursing School. She had a short career as a Registered Nurse, from which she retired to marry her husband. She is a member of the Oyster Bay NY, Presbyterian Church and most recently attended the Mebane Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Werner and Helen Whittlesey Stevens; 2 brothers and a sister. She is survived by her husband, Charles Harrison of the home; sons, Alan Alva Dowds of Boston, MA, John Stevens Dowds of Louisville, KY, Timothy Whittlesey Dowds of Mebane, NC; twelve grandchildren; step children, David M. Harrison of Long Island, NY, Thomas Parker Harrison of Los Angeles, CA and Eve Masland Kossmann of Long Island, NY. A service to celebrate her life will be held; 3:00 Saturday at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by Rev. Jeff Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:00 before the service.
