Nancy Lee Perdue Jenkins

Nancy Lee Perdue Jenkins, 88, of Burlington, died December 3, 2016 at home. Born March 7, 1928 in Rockingham County, she was a daughter of the late Lee Dewey and Verlie Barham Perdue. Nancy was a 1945 graduate of Haw River High School, where she served as Senior Class Historian. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who adored all her grand and great-grandchildren. Nancy worked in both textiles and sales during her career. She was also a Gold Star Mother. Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Gary Michael and Carol Jenkins of Mebane, and their children Cain (Melaine) Jenkins and Eric (Kim) Jenkins, and grandchildren Mason, Grayson, Jaxson, Harleigh and Kearsta; daughter and son in law, Pamela Sue Jenkins Herring and William “Bob”, of Graham, and their children Teresa (Hugh) Herring, Greg (Gail) Herring, grandchild Tate (Michelle) Herring, great grandchild Isabella Herring; daughter and son in law, Karen Pawson and Darrell, their children Andrea Penley, Hayley Pawson, stepchildren Jamie Pawson, Shandi Soto, and grandchildren, Chloe Penley, Shilo Stewart and stepgrandchildren, Natham Pawson, Dylan Soto, Elizabeth Soto, Logan Soto; her brothers, Raymond “Chunk” Perdue, Jerry Perdue; and special caregiver, Brenda White. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Jenkins, son, HN3 Gregory Dale Jenkins, US Navy, and brother, Henry Perdue. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, with Pastor Norman Whitney presiding. Interment will follow in Graham Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 6 – 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at her home, 135 Boone St., in Burlington.
