Nellie Rhodes Cook

MEBANE, N.C. - Mrs. Nellie Jane Rhodes Cook, 81, of Jones Drive, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Burlington.She was the daughter of the late Sam and Nora Elledge Rhodes and a native of Wilkes County, N.C. She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church for 63 years, as well as a former member of the Church choir and former Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Woman. She was a volunteer in the Sing-a-long Ministry at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields for 15 years. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, who loved her family and was devoted to her church. Survivors include her children, Ellen C. Williams and husband Roger Dale, Walter J. "Jay" Cook Jr. and wife Lori, Jimmy R. Cook and wife Cindy and Vanessa C. Brady and husband Scott; grandchildren, Jason Cook and wife Traci, Benjamin Cook and wife Julie, Nora Jane W. Lobaugh and husband Lucas, Justin Williams and wife Julie, Kristen C. Ktach and husband John, Zachary Brady and wife Anna, Meredith C. Krasnecky and husband Matt, Tyler Cook, Lucas Brady, Tanner Cook and Robin W. Weddle; great- grandchildren, Owen, Talon and Austin Cook, Lucas and Grace Lobaugh, Drake Williams and Courtney and Haley Parsons; sister, Ruth R. Hammond and husband Ken; brother, Allan Rhodes; sister-in-law, Jessie W. Rhodes; brother-in-law, William W. "Bill" Cook.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Walter J. "Don" Cook Sr.; sister, Glenna R. Rea; and brothers, Grant and Ed Rhodes.A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at Hebron United Methodist Church in Mebane with the Rev. Bryan Sexton and the Rev. William Holliday officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time prior to the service at the church on Wednesday and at other times at the residence of the son, Jimmy, at 2607 Jones Drive, Mebane, N.C.In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
