Nellie Young Hamm

GRAHAM - Mrs. Nellie Young Hamm, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Friday May 23, 2014, at the Hospice Home of Burlington. She was a native of Halifax County, Va. and the daughter of the late William and Ledea Hodmett Young. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was in the Ready Dorcus Class and she loved to sing the Lord's praises. Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Reynolds and husband Don, of Burlington and Janet Allred, of Delaware; son, William Hamm and wife Betty, of Graham; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Daniel Hamm Jr.; five sisters and three brothers. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Beck and the Rev. Don Pegg officiating. Burial will follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, and at other times at the residence of William and Betty Hamm at 1010 Pomeroy Street, Graham, NC 27253. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance/Caswell at 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Calvary Baptist Church at 230 Williamson St. Burlington, NC 27215.
