GRAHAM - Nellie "Nell" Long Thompson, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. Nellie was born in Caswell County on June 3, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Jule C. and Mae Frederick Long. She was the wife of the late Lonnie E. Thompson for more than sixty years. Nellie loved her church and her church family. Up until her recent illness, she was an active member of the Believers Sunday School Class and the Valda Cates Circle at Riverside Baptist Church in Graham. Surviving is a daughter, Bonnie T. Daniels and husband, Richard; a grandson, R. Scott Winningham and wife Janeen of Concord, NC; a granddaughter, Lisa W. Godwin and husband Jon of Mebane, NC; and 3 great grandsons, Colin Godwin and Gavin and Connor Winningham. She was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Katie Smith, Pauline Waddell, Elizabeth Dunlap, Frances Burdette, Annie Long and Myrtle Wilson; 3 brothers, J.C. Long, Nick Long and Daily Long. The funeral will be held at Riverside Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 17, at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 prior to the funeral. The Rev. Bob Stephenson and the Rev. Curtis Oakley will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or the Mt. Hermon Memorial Association, 4178 Mt.
