Nighindale Elenor Stewart

GIBSONVILLE - Nightingale Elenor Preston Stewart of Gibsonville, NC age 92, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1922 in Walkertown, Forsyth County, NC to Walter E. Preston and Grace Hammack Preston. Her family moved to Graham in the early 1930s and she was a graduate of the class of 1939 at Graham High School. She was married to the late Gwyn Dewet Stewart for 69 years. Mrs. Stewart lived most of her adult life in Greensboro, NC and enjoyed a 20+ year career as a visitor receptionist at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Stewart had been an active member of The Church of the Nazarene and taught Sunday School for many years.Mrs. Stewart is predeceased by her daughter, Carla Stewart Marley of Gibsonville, and brother, Hassell H. Preston of Indiana. Mrs. Stewart is survived by a brother, Canton C. Preston and wife Ruby of Burlington; son, Duane K. Stewart and wife Patricia of Durham; son, Donald P. Stewart of Greensboro; son-in-law, Kenneth R. Marley of Gibsonville; grandchildren Robin Marley Putnam, Richard B. Marley, Ryan D. Stewart and Brady H. Stewart; great grandchildren Victoria Putnam, Kendyl Putnam and Felix Stewart. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM Tuesday, at McClure Funeral Service, 1030 South Main Street, Graham, NC 27253. Graveside services and burial will follow at 2:00PM, with a eulogy by Diaconal Minister Ed Allred at Bethlehem Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 5410 Pine Hall Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
