Norma Hicks Hendrix

Norma Jean Hicks Hendrix went Home May 31st, at the age of 88. She leaves behind a legacy of giving when she could, joke telling, hospitality and tales of the past.

Before her husband Ray went Home, they enjoyed many excursions with her brother Tommy and his wife, Janet, after her well-earned retirement from Western Electric / AT&T.

Norma, aka Nana (as she was lovingly called by her grand-nieces and nephews) loved to entertain. She loved to decorate for the season. Many large family gatherings, laughter and feasts were enjoyed in her earthly home through the years. She loved a well-kept house and well-manicured yard. Norma was particularly fond of shopping, for herself and others, and eating out!

Norma Jean was predeceased by her parents, Carl Douglas and Leona Horner Hicks; her husband Ray Hendrix; and step-daughter Kathy Hendrix Dickerson.

Norma is survived and will be missed by: her brother, Tommy Hicks & Janet; step-sons Rick Hendrix & Melanie; David Hendrix & Donna; Timothy and Barry Hendrix; 7 Step-Grandchildren - Kevin Hendrix & Tiffany, Chris Hendrix & Jesse, Ryan Hoots & Bobby, Magan Carter & Richard, Josh Hendrix, Angie Dickerson Cottingham & Todd, Jerry Dickerson Jr.; 16 Step-Great-Grandchildren; 2 Nieces; a Nephew; 7 Grand-Nieces/Nephews; and 14 Great-Grand-Nieces/Nephews. Norma Jean will also be missed by her good friends Danny & Gloria Freshwater who faithfully visited her, bearing gifts and offering their love and encouragement.

The family will forever be grateful for the time, care and attention of her endearing staff and medical teams at Peak Resources Brookshire, in Hillsborough. We appreciate your care and friendships of Norma Jean during her extended stay there. Thank you all.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday June 4, 2025 at Faith Baptist Church with the Pastor Keith Spake officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.  McClure Funeral Service in Mebane is assisting the family.
