Norman Proudfoot

August 28, 1938 — September 13, 2017

Norman “Norm” Thomas Proudfoot departed this life after a brief illness, on Sept. 13, at his home in Mebane, NC. He was 79 years old. He was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and was the youngest child of Raymond and Lottie (Dybulski) Proudfoot. Norm graduated from the University of Toledo in 1961, and worked as an Accountant for Libbey Glass in Toledo for about 32 years until he retired. He was involved in St. James Church in the men’s choir for many years, and volunteered many hours for the church. He was Volunteer of the Year for The Central City Ministry of Toledo in 2002. Because of his great ability to manage money, he was elected as Treasurer of the Knights of Columbus for 10 straight years. His love of sports was important to him his entire life. He played baseball, softball and basketball until a serious illness prevented him from doing so. He was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers until the end. He was a coach for the Libbey softball team, on which his kids participated, for many years. Besides sports, he enjoyed playing cards. To be closer to family, he moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 2009, and then to North Carolina in 2015. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Antoinette “Toni” (Stricker), children Pamela Stevens (Anthony Gaines) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Thomas (Glory) of Bowling Green, Diane Moon of Mebane, NC, Timothy (Natalie) of Colorado Springs CO, and 7 grandkids – Nicole and Rachel Stevens, Abigail Proudfoot, Austen, Brett, and Craig Moon, and Darrin Proudfoot. He is also survived by two sisters, Bernice Kenczewicz of Toledo, and Gini Siwa of Sugar Land, TX. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald. Arrangements are entrusted to McClure Funeral and Cremation Service in Mebane, NC.
