Haw River Obelia Overbey “Chicken” Ezzell, 85, of Haw River made her journey to “Heaven” on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Hospice Home in Burlington, surrounded by her family. She was a native of Orange County, a homemaker and a member of Riverdale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Ezzell; parents, Sidney Thomas and Hattie Maude Eastwood Overbey; son, Ronnie Ezzell; great granddaughter, Brittney Amber Duncan; brothers, ,Paul Overbey, Silas Overbey and Sidney Overbey; sisters, Mary Sue Parrish and Elsie Wright; sister in law, Peggy Rogers. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Ward(Tony) of Graham, Kathy Ezzell Lea(Ernest Murray) of Haw River; daughter in law, Bonnie P. Ezzell of Haw River; sisters; Nellie Overbey Wilson of Burlington and Hallie Overbey Baker of Harkers Island; special in laws, Linda Overbey, Nancy Johnson, Tommy & Jeanette Ezzell; grandchildren, John W, Ezzell, Ben N. Lea, Tammy Ezzell, Cindy Berrier(Wayne), Wendy Proffit(Mike), Melanie E. Westfall(Ben) and Lindsey Ward; thirteen great grandchildren. A Service to celebrate her life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by Rev. Jonathan Graves. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 before the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice and Liberty Commons for the love and care shown to “Chicken” during her illness.
