Odell William Gambill

Odell William Gambill, 88, od Elon passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. He was a native of Surry County, retired from CGR Products and served with the US National Guard. He is the son of the late Vivan William and Mattie Louise Yarboro Gambill and was married to the late Shirley Gambill. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Gambill Odell was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his daughters, Kim Luther and husband Michael of Lexington, Deborah Myers-Mattes and husband Martin of Elon; sister, Betty Sue Coleman of Jonesville; grandchildren, Zach Myers of Greensboro, Jared Cockerham of Greensboro, Martin Matthes, Jr., Susan Matthes Willin and husband Khristopher, great grandchildren ZJ Myers, Tatiyana Craigg-Myers and Dallas Odell Myers

A service to celebrate his life will be 1:00 PM Sunday, March 23, 2025,  in the Mausoleum Chapel at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro with burial to follow. The family will receive friends in the Mausoleum Chapel from 12:00 – 1:00 prior to the service. We want to express our deepest gratitude to someone truly special. Mr. Odell’s caregiver, Alexandra Strickland. Her commitment to our Dad was nothing short of extraordinary. She provided assistance, brought comfort, joy and a sense of security during a challenging time. Her patience, empathy and unwavering spirit were a source of strength and inspiration for us all. We are so lucky to have you in our lives and will be eternally grateful for everything you did. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
