Pamela Sue Jenkins Herring, 77, of Graham, known lovingly as Sue, passed away on March 29,2026, in Alamance County, North Carolina.
Sue was born on May 7, 1948, in Alamance County, North Carolina, and she spent her life rooted in the community she called home. She was a woman of steady character, quiet strength, and deep devotion to the people she loved. Those who knew her will remember her warm presence, her kind heart, and the grace with which she carried herself through life.
Sue was the longtime bookkeeper for Herring Brothers Construction, Inc., where her reliability and attention to detail were valued for many years. She also worked for 14 years with the Alamance County Board of Elections, serving her community with dedication and professionalism. Her work reflected the same care and responsibility that she brought to every part of her life. Sue was a long-time member of the Alamance County War Memorial Committee.
Family was the center of Sue’s world, and she cherished each member of hers dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Herring (Hugh); her son, Robert “Greg” Herring Sr. (Lindsay); her grandson, Robert “Tate” Herring Jr. and William Herring; and her great-grandchildren, Isabella, Landen, Cash, Kolson, and Emorie. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Pawson, and her brother, Mike Jenkins; Andrea “Andi” Sain, who was like a daughter to her, along with Andi’s children, Reid and Chloe, held a special place in her heart. She also leaves behind Harrison Tucker, a grandson by love, and her special friend, Karina Goncalves Robinson.
Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Robert “Bob” Herring, and by her parents, Fred and Nancy Perdue Jenkins and a brother, Gregory Dale Jenkins. Their memory remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she carried their love with her always.
Sue loved to travel with her late husband, and those trips became treasured memories. Whether they were headed to the beach, visiting Pennsylvania’s Amish Country, or simply enjoying a day of antiquing, she found joy in every journey. She especially enjoyed collecting pottery and glassware, and she took delight in the beauty and history found in each piece. These interests reflected her appreciation for simple pleasures and the meaningful moments shared with those she loved. Sue enjoyed watching her family tractor-pull. Sue enjoyed doing the Quarter Auctions with her daughter, which brought her an extended family she enjoyed being with.
Above all, Sue will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Nothing brought a brighter smile to her face than time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Her legacy is one of love, loyalty, and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
