Patricia Shambley Harden

Patricia “Pat” Shambley Harden, aged 55, passed away in Charlotte, NC on August 13, 2015 at Presbyterian Medical Center, holding the hands of her loved ones. Pat had been living with insulin-dependent diabetes since childhood. Pat was born January 3, 1960 in Burlington, NC at Alamance County Hospital to parents Morris and Shirley Shambley. Pat married her high school sweetheart, David Harden, on June 19, 1982. In 1983, Pat proudly graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. Pat was passionate about helping children with disabilities. Following graduation, she began her career working with elementary students in the Wake County Public Schools. After locating to Charlotte, she taught both autistic and specials needs students in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system. She retired from teaching after 28 years of service. She is survived by her husband David Louis Harden and her two daughters: Jessica Marie Harden (her husband Stewart Venable) and Ashley (Ash) Elizabeth Harden; as well as her parents: Morris and Shirley Shambley of Efland, NC grandmother Inez Shambley, her sister Catherine Riley, and her niece Tyler Riley. Pat, now in Heaven, is joining her brother Bradley Lee Shambley; her grandfather Winfred Shambley; and her brother-in-law Bobby Riley. The service will be held at Chestnut Ridge Methodist Church 3505 Chestnut Ridge Church Rd, Efland, NC on Saturday, August 22. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and the memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m.The family at other times will receive friends at the home of Morris and Shirley Shambley 2609 Mt.
