Paul Earl King

MEBANE - Paul Earl Young, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at the Hospice Home of Burlington, after several weeks of declining health. He was born in Orange County on June 5, 1935, to Luchen and Nellie Young who preceded him in death. He is survived by his children Debbie Young Cook (Robert) and Randy Paul Young (Jennifer); and grandchildren Brittany Cook Mann (Jesse), Dustin Tyler Cook, Jordan Leigh Young and Grant Paul Young. He is also survived by his sister Shelba Young Yates and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Harold Young, Jack Young and George "Buck" Young. He was a lifetime member of Efland United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Efland Volunteer Fire Department and retired after 20 years of service in 1992. He worked for the City of Mebane for 25 years. He was also employed by Mace Paving and Kingsdown. His hobbies included playing and coaching baseball/softball, fishing, hunting and watching any kind of sports. He was an avid Tar Heel fan. Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially attending events involving his grandchildren who were the joy of his life until the very end. The family would like to send a special thanks to the outstanding staff of Homeplace of Burlington for their exceptional care and loving attention that was provided to him over the last 18 months. A service to celebrate his life will be at 2 p.m Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Efland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ken McLean and the Rev. Cindy Lister with the burial to follow in Efland Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013. At other times the family will be at the home of Randy Young at 1717 Old Carriage Court, Haw River.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the James Dunn Building Fund at Efland United Methodist Church, PO Box 121, Efland, NC 27243.
