Mr. Pierce John Hoover, 86, of South Fifth Street, Mebane, NC, passed away on Friday March 11, 2016. A native of Randolph County, NC, he was the son of the late George Newton and Josephine Elizabeth Pierce Hoover and the husband of the late Jeanne Jobe Hoover. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, Christian, and friend to many. He was retired from Lorillard and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mebane for 60 years. He was a long standing member of his community and was a part of the VFW in Mebane. He served his country in the US Army, serving in the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart and proudly, the Bronze Star. Survivors include his children, Jan Hoover, Vickie Everett and husband Jerry, Sandi Florence and husband Bobby, Mike Hoover and wife Kim and Wendy Miller and husband John; grandchildren, Dana Everett page and husband David, Joseph Florence, Bishup Everett Mann and husband Josh, Issac Florence, Bradley Hoover, Addison Hoover, Timothy Wilkie and Kyle Miller; great grandchildren, Sawyer Everett and Rett Page; sisters, Martha Hoover, Zetta Bunker, and Hilda Lowery; brother, Leo Hoover. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, John Allen Hoover, sisters, Doris Hinshaw and Edith Mozell Hoover. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday March 14, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Mebane with the Rev. Bland Campbell III, Dr. Terry farmer and the Rev. Judy Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM on Sunday March 13, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the residence of the family.
