Rafel Garibay

February 28, 1930 — June 20, 2017

CAROLINA BEACH - Rafael "Ralph" Garibay, of Carolina Beach, NC, formerly of Burlington, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his residence. A native of Cook, County, Illinois, he was the son of the late David and Angelina Perez Garibay. Ralph loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid woodworker and fisherman. He was retired from Lucent Technologies with numerous years of service. When living in Burlington he served as Interpreter for Tom Lambeth and for the Kure Beach police Department. Ralph is a proud veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and he was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris Pugh Garibay, of the home; sons, Mike Garibay and wife Shari, of Oak Ridge and Tony Garibay and wife Margaret, of Kure Beach; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Alcala, of Chicago. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David; sisters, Sister Eleanor, Angelina and Connie. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday June 23, 2017 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Vincent Rubio Officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Kure Beach, NC.
