Ralph Austin Moon, 96, of Mebane, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Ralph was born on May 11, 1929, in Chenango, New York, to the late Raydell and Mary Moon. He grew up on a farm alongside his six brothers. While his brothers went off to serve in World War II, Ralph stayed behind and continued working the land. Ralph was a man of many talents and even more stories. Over the years, he wore many hats: stock car driver, truck driver, mechanic, woodcutter, and owner of a bar and grill. He loved NASCAR and never missed a race. Ralph will be remembered for his incredible strength, unwavering determination, and the life he lived grounded in hard work. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Ralph left a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be deeply loved and missed.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Maxine Mercer; his second wife, Angelina Moon; his son, Ralph Moon; his daughter, Sharon Curry; his 6 brothers; and his sister.
He is survived by his son, Doug Moon (Debbie); his daughter-in-law and caregiver, Grace Moon; his stepchildren, Darla, Linda, Bill, Steve, Pidge, and Fran; many grandchildren; and many, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A service will be held to honor Mr. Moon's life on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Boyd Pickard officiating.
