Raney Teer

Mr. W. Raney Teer, 71, of Stanford Road in Chapel Hill, died June 8, 2017 at his home. Raney was born March 25, 1941 in Orange County, the son of Charlie and Leta Cheek Teer. He was raised on the family home place in the Orange Grove community, and was living there at the time of his death. Raney graduated from Chapel Hill High School, and was a letter carrier, retiring from the United States Postal Service following 30 plus years of service. Surviving are his sons, Nathan Teer of Chapel Hill and Randy Teer of Bellevue, NE; his daughters, Natalie Riggsbee of Durham and Lea Ann McCann of Chapel Hill; sister, Lydia Teer; brothers, Thomas, Stanford and Lemuel Teer; 9 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verna; grandson, Caleb Stocking; and a brother, William Teer. The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Walter Raney Teer will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017 at Cane Creek Baptist Church, 6901 Orange Grove Road, Hillsborough, NC.
