Raymond William Eley Sr.

Mr. Raymond William Eley Sr. 95, of Mebane, NC, formerly of Portsmouth, VA passed away on April 14, 2024 at Compass Healthcare and Rehab (Hawfields). Raymond was the husband to the late Betty McGahee Eley. Raymond was a 32nd degree freemason being a member of Churchland Masonic Lodge #276 AF&AM located in Virginia. He and his late wife Betty were both members of the Order of the Amaranth serving in the Caviler Court #6 and the Colonial Height #10 in Virginia. Raymond had his own business in the construction industry he worked for years called Ray’s Plastering in Virginia. He was a member of Cross Link Community Church in Mebane and was a proud veteran of the US National Guard. Raymond loved many things in life but nothing put a smile on his face like his grandchildren. Survivors include his son, Raymond W. Eley Jr. and wife Gayle; his loving grandchildren, Isabella Eley and companion, Chris Burgess, Shannon Chappell and husband Jason, Stephanie Watson and husband Shawn; his great grandchildren, Sadie and Shelby Watson; special nieces and nephew, Dianne Whitlock (Hadley), Barbara Aston, and William Raynolds and wife Charlene, and many other loving family members. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Donna Rhea Parsons and his brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
