Reverend Michael Roy Luke

Reverend Michael Roy Luke, 67, of Graham, NC passed away on January 30, 2020 at the Hospice Home of Burlington. A native of Bakersfield, CA, and he was the son of the late Roy and Alma Ruth Godair Luke. Rev. Luke started his ministry in 1974 at South Downey, CA. He Evangelized for one year and then helped his wife Paula’s great uncle, L.T. Reynolds start three home mission churches. When L.T. Reynolds became pastor to the church in Hayward, CA. Mike moved his family to Hayward, CA to become L.T. Reynolds assistant pastor for two years! He then started three home missions’ works, one in Lake Elsinore, CA, Oak Harbor, WA and Auburn, WA. He pastored the church in Auburn WA for 25 years and then retired and traveled for two years! He then took the church in Rohnert Park, CA in December 2016 and pastored there until December 2018. January 2019 he and his wife Paula moved to Graham, NC to be close to his children and  grandchildren. He and Paula attended Pastor Johnny Godair’s Church until he passed away on January 30, 2020. On December 24, 2017 Mike was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Tumor which is terminal Brain cancer stage 4. In January 2018 he had his first surgery then chemo and radiation. He had his second surgery on August 2, 2018. After his second surgery, he chose not to do anymore chemo treatments. He felt like his life was in God’s hands and if God chose to give him his miracle that would be great... if not he was ok with that too. Survivors include his wife he married on June 23, 1973, Paula Davis Luke; his loving children, Michael Paul Luke and wife Amie and J. Darlene Ridge and husband Ben; his grandchildren, Cameron, Bryce, Xavier and Ava; and a brother, Douglas Ray Luke and wife Sherri and his loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Denise Luke-Huitt. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday February 7, 2020 at the First Pentecostal Church in Durham with the Pastor Johnny Godair officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 PM on Thursday February 6, 2020 at the church in Durham. A private burial will take place on Saturday in Graham.
