Richard "Alimony" Daniel Shipman

Richard passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends midday afternoon on Sunday October 1, 2023. Richard was an avid fisherman and watch collector, always keeping up with world and local events. He was well known in his career field of concrete finishing.  Richard was a famous master of making a secret recipe cornbread that everyone loved. He was a lover of classic cars.  He cared for the community and was respected by his neighbors and peers.  He is survived by his wife Lois Shipman of 25 years and several children. From his oldest daughter Lecinda Stacey with her family in Norfolk, VA, to his youngest daughter Lisa James with her family in Reidsville, NC. Richard is also survived by his stepsons, Bruce and Andrew Dabbs and their families from Burlington, NC.  He left a legacy of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had close friends who were near and dear to his heart for many years, John and Susan Crawford. He will be mourned and missed.
