Richard Charles Doby

Richard Charles Doby 68, of Burlington and cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Born on January 27, 1957, in Alamance Co., North Carolina, Richard's warm spirit and jovial nature touched the lives of all who knew him. Richard's life was one of dedication and joy. He shared 9 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Anita Dix Doby, and his son, Lynn Doby and wife Rebecca, who brought him immense pride and happiness. Richard's legacy of love continues through his adoring grandchildren, Carson and Kayla Doby, who were the light of his life. His sister, Dianne May, and her husband, Mike, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will fondly remember Richard's unwavering kindness and infectious laughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Eugene Doby and Elma Bishop Doby, and brothers, Carl and Eric Doby, leaving behind a family grateful for his life and guidance. Professionally, Richard was known throughout Alamance County as a charismatic car salesman. His genuine approach and extensive knowledge earned him the respect and trust of the community. Richard's passion extended beyond his career to the dartboard, where he was recognized as an expert dart player. His competitive spirit and skill were admired by many, and his presence at dart tournaments will be greatly missed. Above all, Richard was a good man who lived his life with a remarkable sense of contentment. He never complained, choosing instead to spread love and positivity wherever he went. His ability to make people smile and laugh was one of his greatest gifts, and his impact on others was profound. Richard's interests reflected his love for life and people. He found joy in the simple pleasures and always sought to uplift those around him. As we say goodbye to Richard Charles Doby, we celebrate a life well-lived life filled with laughter, love, and an abundance of cherished memories. His spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us to embrace each day with the same kindness and warmth that he so effortlessly displayed. Richard's journey on earth may have ended, but his story will be told for generations, as those who loved him carry his legacy forward.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday December 11, 2025, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with Ministers Derrick Wood and Rhett Macomson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
