Richard Lee Lanier 63, of Mebane NC, passed away on August 15, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital, will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew him. He lived a life marked by devotion to his family, steady work, and a warm appreciation for the simple joys that made life meaningful. Richard was a loving father to his daughter, Rachel Lanier, and his sons, Robbie Lanier and Joey Lanier. He cherished his children with all of his heart, and that love remained one of the defining parts of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Lanier, who shared in his life’s journey and will carry forward many treasured memories of their time together. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Jean Ingram Lanier, whose guidance and love helped shape the man he became. Their memory remained close to him throughout his life, and he carried forward the values of family, loyalty, and perseverance that they instilled in him. Those who knew Richard will remember him as a man who valued his relationships deeply and who found strength in the bonds of family. In his professional life, Richard worked at the Pentagon with the Department of Defense and at several military bases over the years. His career reflected a strong sense of duty, reliability, and commitment to the work entrusted to him. He approached his responsibilities with dedication and pride, and his years of service left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him. Through his work, he contributed to something larger than himself, and he carried himself with the quiet dignity of a man who understood the importance of service. Outside of work, Richard enjoyed the things that brought him happiness and connection. He was an avid Wake Forest fan and followed his team with enthusiasm. He also loved the game of baseball and played in his younger days, carrying with him a lifelong appreciation for the sport. These interests were part of the rhythm of his life and reflected the spirited, loyal nature that those around him came to know well. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday August 22, 2026, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with Pastor Sammy Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at Piney Grove Cemetery in Kernersville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home in Mebane.
