Robert Ellis Florence Sr.

Mr. Robert Ellis Florence Sr., of Mebane, NC passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late John Pennix and Effie Boswell Florence. Robert retired from Craftique Furniture after 48 years of service. Following retirement, he loved to pursue his hobby of horticulture. Robert was an experienced gardener and could plant and grow anything he set his mind to. He was once awarded for growing the largest pecan tree in Alamance County. Everyone around Robert admired his beautifully landscaped yard for years. He will forever be remembered for being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Mr. Florence is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Godwin Florence; his brothers, James Florence, John Florence, Jack Florence, Willard Florence, Bobby Jo Florence, and Billy Florence; and his sister, Frances Terrell.

He is survived by his son, Robert Florence Jr. (Pam); his daughters, Laura Glasgow (Dale) and Jo Ann Wetzel (Dan); his brother, Aubrey Florence; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane prior to the service.
