Mebane

Robert "Bobby" Long Talley, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Born on April 5, 1943, in Guilford County, NC, to the late John Robert and Naomi Talley, Bobby's life was a testament to the love and joy he brought to all who knew him. Bobby's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Lois Cross Talley, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they raised two remarkable sons, Mark Talley (Carey) and Greg Talley, who will carry on his legacy of kindness and integrity. Bobby's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Kyle Talley (Caitlyn), Ryan Talley (Mariah), Isabella Talley, and Alivia Talley, who will miss their grandfather's gentle guidance and endless support. He was a beloved brother to Kenneth, Bill, and Donald Talley, and a caring brother to Carol Hooper and Faye West. His siblings will fondly remember the bond they shared and the memories they created throughout the years. Bobby's professional life was marked by a successful career at IBM, where he retired as a Control Specialist. His colleagues respected him for his expertise and his ability to lead with both authority and compassion. His commitment to excellence and his innovative spirit left a lasting impact on the industry. An avid golfer, Bobby found solace and joy on the greens. His love for the game was about more than just the sport; it was about the friendships he forged and the life lessons he learned. As Bobby often quoted the legendary Arnold Palmer, "Success in golf depends less on strength of body than upon strength of mind and character." This philosophy was evident in every aspect of Bobby's life, as he approached each day with a positive attitude and a strong character. He was a lifetime North Carolina Tar Heel fan and was known to always make sure to never miss his kid’s and grandkid’s ball games. Bobby's life was one of purpose and passion. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left a legacy of warmth and generosity that will continue to inspire those who knew him. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday June 6, 2025 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Pastor Sammy Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until service time on Friday. McClure Funeral Service in Mebane is honored to serve the family.
