Robert Anthony “Tony” Mangum, 66, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Born in Orange County, North Carolina, Tony was the son of Robert and Janie Mangum. Tony dedicated his career to Food Lion, where he worked as a market manager for many years before later serving as a security guard. Outside of work, Tony was known for his deep love of the outdoors. Tony was known by many nicknames, including “White Tail Mangum,” “Mad Dog Mangum,” and “Mangum Tree.” He will be remembered for his love for family and friends, his stories, and the countless memories shared in the woods.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Wesley Mangum; his sister, Susan Mangum; and his brother, Jeffrey Mangum.
