Robert Leon Nichols

Mr. Robert Lee Nichols, 74, died October 29, 2017 in his home in Snow Camp. Born February 19, 1943 in Wilson, NC, he was the son of Robert Lee and Ruby Matthews Nichols, both whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Nichols. Robert served in the US Navy for 22 years, and retired as a Navy Chief from the Pentagon. Survivors include his companion, Betty Halter; nephew, Daniel King and wife Kitty; niece, Amy King; cousins, William Tyson, Robert and Miriam Matthews; sons, Robert and Daniel Nichols; and grandson, Gavin Nichols. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Saxapahaw United Methodist Church. Reverend Sue Eldon will preside. Interment will follow in Moore's Chapel Cemetery, with honors by the Patriot Guard and the Randolph County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saxapahaw United Methodist Church, PO Box 268, Saxapahaw, NC 27340. Arrangements are under the care of McClure Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham.
