Robert "Allan" Rhodes

Mr. Robert "Allan" Rhodes 83, of Mebane, NC passed away on May 10, 2023, at Compass Health Care and Rehab in Mebane.  Allan was born in Wilkes County to Sam and Nora Rhodes.  He is survived by two children, Eric Rhodes and Sybil Rhodes; two grandchildren, Samuel Rhodes, and Federico Rhodes Gervasoni; sister Ruth Hammond of Keizer, Oregon; niece, Barbara Gregory, who was like a sister to him; nephews Jay Cook and Jimmy Cook; and nieces Ellen Williams, Melanie Breedlove, and Vanessa Brady.

Allan was an avid Tar Heel fan, bird watcher, shag dancer, world traveler, and military veteran.  He graduated from Mebane High School in 1959, where he played football and basketball, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1963.  Allan served in the National Guard and worked for the Social Security Administration for many years.  Allan will be missed for his remembrance of family, love of sports, and animated poetry readings.  Rest in peace, Allan. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 Pm on Sunday December 31, 2023 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Darrell Moser officiating.
