Robert Melton Rich

Mr. Robert Melton Rich, 74, of Graham, passed away on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at the Peak Resources of Alamance. A native of Bladen County, NC, he was the son of the late Major “Naamon” and Nettie Pearl Smith Rich. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was a proud member of the World of Pentecost in Burlington. He had worked with Dan River Mills for 18 years prior to working at Dottie’s Starlight Grill for 20 years as a cook. He enjoyed traveling to flea markets and the mountains. He was known for being a compassionate and loving person who always had a smile on his face. Survivors include his wife of the home, Mary Stutts Sheffield Rich; daughter, Angel R. Lockamy and husband Carlos, of Dunn, NC; sons, Donald Rich, of Prairie City, Iowa and Michael “Mike” Rich and wife Abbey, of Hampstead, NC; step daughter, Rita Wilson and husband Bryan, of Snow Camp; step sons, Ricky Sheffield, of Mebane and Raymond “Sam” Sheffield, of Burlington; 4 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, and 12 step great grandchildren; sister, Linda Holly, of Burgaw, NC and a brother, Thomas Rich, of Winston Salem, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Lockamy; sister, Edna Rich and brothers, Kenneth, Floyd, Cecil, and Coleman Rich. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday March 28, 2017 at the World of Pentecost with the Pastor Kenny Godair officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Monday March 27, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the family.
